Organic agriculture is a positive area of economic growth and collective organizing for a variety of reasons related to: environmental protection, food quality, food security, climated change and social justice.
Organic agriculture enhances soil structures, conserves water, mitigates climate change andensures sustained biodiversity. Through its holistic nature, organic farming integrates wild biodiversity agro-biodiversity and soil conservation and takes low-intensity farming one step further by eliminating the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and genetically modified organisms (the most famous GMOs), which is not only an improvement for human health (food quality), and agrobiodiversity, but also for the associated off farm biotic communities.
Good nutrition is vital for maintaining health and preventing disease. Because organic foods are high in nutritional quality and quantity, they play an important role in promoting human health.
Food security is one of the major issues of our times. Access to quality food is a basic human right and a matter of both community and national security. Enough food is being produced to feed everyone in the world, yet more than 850 million people remain without even one adequate meal a day. (IFOAM 2006)
Organic Agriculture reduces greenhouse gases, especially nitrous oxide, as no chemical nitrogen fertilizers are used and nutrient losses are minimized. It stores carbon in soil and plant biomass by building organic matter and forbidding the clearance of primary ecosystems. It minimizes energy consumption by 30-70% per unit by eliminating the energy required to manufacture synthetic fertilizers.
The first Social Responsibility act is to treat employees as human resources and not just workers. This is one of the most simple but challenging things, that becomes very difficult in a place where ordinary things are exceptions. Bio Farm Crucea Srl and its management have been investing time, energy and efforts in developing a real “working culture”, and supports any employee in trying to accomplish his/her professional and human goals. Bio Farm Crucea encourages and develops ideas that helps to improve individual skills, professional knowledge and team spirit.
Bio Farm Crucea has undertaken the challenging path to award local students and employees’ children with scholarships and prizes: an effort that is meant to become an annual unmissable appointment for the local community.
Every December six students from the local gymnasium are awarded for scholastic merits: the ceremony takes place at the meeting room of the local “CAMIN CULTURAL”, together with our partners and the local authorities.
Education is the great engine of personal development. It is through education that the daughter of a peasant can become a doctor, that a son of a mineworker can become the head of the mine, that a child of farm workers can become the president… Nelson Mandela
Bio Farm Crucea’s management, staff and shareholders have recently introduced a form of corporate self-regulation program integrated into its standard internal business rules.
When we first visited this village in 2007, we immediately understood that Crucea was a place that had seen much suffering and difficulties. Formerly a prosperous agricultural town, mainly vineyards, it became a place of high unemployment and extreme poverty. It is into this setting that Bio Farm and his partners would like to offer its help for today and hope for tomorrow. Since that first visit, three years ago, Crucea has undergone many changes but little improvements. Only few businesses have opened and only few homes now have internet access through satellite or cable connections. The local school offers the minimum mandatory courses, and there’s no hotels and/or restaurants, no gasoline stations, few asphalted village roads as well as road lights.
Despite its touristic potential attractives and interesting spots (Capidava Fortress, Ortodox Wooden Church, Danube River, Mamaia beaches and Constanta Town just to mention few), this beautiful part of Romania rests completely cut out from all touristic trails and commercial developments.
Bio Farm Crucea Contribution Program is an idea that would like to develop local school projects by enabling students to study in a better environment. We would labor in vain if we ceased from our commitment, and the children would quickly be back on the streets of their tragical written destiny.
We thank you for your devotion to this work, and we also pledge our continued commitment. Perhaps you have a willing heart to be a coworker with this foundation but you just don’t know how you could help. Please don’t hesitate to contact us at email@example.com
Many Thanks – Va multumesc
Every year, since 2010, Bio Farm Crucea Srl, its sponsors, the local administration and school of Crucea organize the annual Prize Study Award for students attending the last three classes of the local Gymnasium.
The first ceremony took place at the Camino Cultural city hall at the presence of our Director Elena Staicu, Mariana Dinca (School Director), Gheorghe Frigioi (mayor), Ion Botui (vice mayor), and other institutional guests.
This project involves hundreds of students every year and it is one of the paramount Group activities for social responsibility. Education is the compulsory only meaning through which any individual can improve his/her way of living. This is a motto we use to award all those bright students, with the hope they will use this opportunity at best. For us, instead, another attempt to add more drops into the Crucea ocean.
Bio Farm Crucea is a company very attentive to youth education problems and its management is available to evaluate any potential interesting project that spreads this concept further.
