France, the largest wheat exporter and producer in the EU, entered the first six months (July / December 2017)in the top fifteen destinations for Romanian produced wheat.

The presence of France in the list of the most important export destinations of Romanian wheat is a totally surprising considering the Country is the largest wheat exporter of all European Countries and a direct competitor as well.
The French appetite for wheat started few years ago when on the back of an extremely poor crop, France bought 103,000 MT of wheat from Romania.
In the 2016/2017 season, France ranked sixteenth among the top destinations of wheat produced by local farmers.Surprisingly, the export of Romanian wheat to France continued in the first half of 2017, despite the fact that French harvest returned to previous year's levels.
In the first semester of the current season 2017/2018, France has already imported 68,000 MT of Romanian wheat.
One third of this volume delivered was organic Romanian wheat.
The volumes sold by traders in France led this economy to the eleventh place among the top export destinations of Romanian wheat in the first semester of the 2017/2018 season.
Prior to 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 seasons, France had never bought more than 46,000 MT of wheat from Romania.
